SUMMARY:Name Recognition
DESCRIPTION:Why it’s important:\nRecognizing their name is one of the first academic skills children use in kindergarten. It helps them find their belongings\, identify their work\, and begin connecting letters to meaning. This skill also builds early literacy confidence. \nHow to do it:\nWrite your child’s name clearly and show it to them often. Point it out on drawings\, labels\, and personal items. Play games like “Find Your Name” by placing it among other names or words. \nWhat to look for: \n\nRecognizes their name in print\nPoints to it when asked\nBegins to distinguish it from other words\n\n
