The Children’s Council of Watauga County

The Children’s Council of Watauga County is a dedicated nonprofit organization committed to supporting the healthy development and lifelong success of young children in our community. Our mission is to build a strong foundation for children’s learning and growth by empowering families, enhancing the early childhood system, and engaging the broader community. We accomplish this by administering Smart Start and NC Pre-Kindergarten funds to support high-quality programs for children from birth to age five and their families.

As a trusted leader in early childhood advocacy, we bring together local partners and community stakeholders to develop and implement impactful programs and services. The Children’s Council also serves as a strong voice for the early childhood community, working to raise awareness about the critical needs of young children and helping to create sustainable, community-driven solutions.
