Sharing Ideas. Sharing Support
Circle of Parents provides a friendly, supportive environment facilitated by trained facilitators, but led by parents and other caregivers. It’s a place where anyone in a parenting role can openly discuss the successes and challenges of raising children. It’s a place where they can find and share support. How? By sitting down and really talking. Circle of Parents groups meet weekly, are free of charge, and foster an open exchange of ideas, support, information and resources. Childcare is provided for each group. Check out the support groups below and see which one is best for you!

Triple P
Seminar and Discussion Groups
Triple P Seminar Series
Most of the time, parenting is fun. You know you are doing a good job. But there are times when things get a little tricky. Like when your toddler won’t eat her dinner. Or your six-year-old won’t pick up his toys. If only someone could give you some ideas to make those times easier! If this sounds like you, then a Triple P Seminar may be right for you. Triple P Seminars provide an introduction to the strategies of positive parenting and Triple P. The seminars consist of three 90-minute sessions.
These include:
- Power of Positive Parenting
- Raising Confident, Competent Children
- Raising Resilient Children
Triple P Discussion Group Series
These discussion groups provide parents with information on commonly encountered problems such as disobedience, fighting and aggression, and managing situations such as shopping with children and bedtime. The discussion groups are designed to provide an overview of positive parenting principles for any interested parent. Parents are actively involved throughout the 2-hour small group format discussions where they can connect with other caregivers going through similar situations.
Kaleidoscope
Play and Learn
Let's play and learn together!
Kaleidoscope Play & Learn groups help families prepare their young children (birth to age 5) for success in school and life. At a Kaleidoscope group, children have fun participating in activities and being around their peers. Parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, older siblings and other family members – often referred to as family, friend and neighbor (FFN) caregivers – learn about:
- Activities they can do at home to support children’s learning
- Turning everyday activities- such as grocery shopping, cooking and bath time- into early learning opportunities
- Child development from birth to five
- Skills children are expected to have when they start school
- Community programs and services available to help them raise healthy children
A play group typically consists of free play, a coordinated group activity, snacks, and plenty of opportunities to connect with other caregivers. Each group focuses on a learning topic that is explored through books, songs, and learning experiences.
Play and Learn groups are conducted in collaboration with our home-based childcare network, Blue Ridge Beginnings.
“Before I found out about this program, I felt isolated and the kids in my care did not have opportunities to socialize, especially with a diverse group of people. Now we are part of a loving and diverse community!” - Nanny for 1 year old
