Taking Turns Game
May 1 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Why it’s important:
Taking turns is a foundational social skill in kindergarten. Children are expected to share materials, participate in group activities, and wait for their turn during games and discussions. Learning this skill helps prevent conflict and builds positive peer relationships.
How to do it:
Play a simple game (board game, ball toss, or building activity) where you clearly model turn-taking. Use language like “My turn, now your turn.” Keep turns short and predictable to build success.
What to look for:
- Waits briefly for their turn
- Begins to understand the concept of “my turn/your turn”
- Shows less frustration while waiting
