Smooth Transitions
July 4
Why it’s important:
Kindergarten classrooms involve frequent transitions between activities. Children who can transition smoothly are more successful and less likely to become frustrated.
How to do it:
Practice moving from one activity to another using warnings like “5 minutes left” or “one more turn.” Use a timer if helpful and keep transitions predictable.
What to look for:
- Responds to transition warnings
- Moves between activities with less resistance
- Begins to anticipate changes
