Feelings Check-In
May 3
Why it’s important:
Recognizing and naming emotions is the first step in managing them. Children who can identify their feelings are better able to communicate their needs.
How to do it:
Throughout the day, ask your child how they are feeling and model your own feelings. Use simple words like happy, sad, mad, or excited.
What to look for:
- Uses feeling words
- Begins to connect feelings to situations
- Shows awareness of emotions
