Staying Calm During Frustration
May 24
Why it’s important:
Frustration is a normal part of learning, but children need tools to manage it appropriately. Being able to stay calm helps children continue learning and avoid disruptive behaviors.
How to do it:
When your child becomes frustrated, guide them through calming strategies such as taking deep breaths, counting, or taking a short break. Model calm behavior and acknowledge their feelings.
What to look for:
- Uses calming strategies with support
- Recovers more quickly from frustration
- Shows fewer intense reactions over time
