Following Adult Directions
May 23
Why it’s important:
Children in kindergarten need to be able to listen to and follow directions from teachers and other adults. This skill supports safety, learning, and participation in daily routines.
How to do it:
Give simple directions throughout the day, such as “Please put your shoes by the door” or “Bring me your book.” Start with one-step directions and gradually increase to two steps. Offer praise when your child follows through.
What to look for:
- Responds to directions without repeated prompts
- Completes tasks as asked
- Shows improved listening skills
